Garrett's experience and how it may help you:

Hello, my name is Garrett Larribas, CEO and lead instructor for Creative Expressions Fine Arts, LLC. Born and raised in Tucson, I fell in love with theatre in high school. I carried this passion to Wesleyan University in Connecticut, earning a Bachelor's in Theatre, and was privileged to attend The British Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. After graduating, I taught students with special needs, first in Tucson and then Chicago. While teaching, I continued my artistic endeavors in Chicago’s improv theatre community. Although my time there was beneficial, I yearned to be back in Tucson.

In 2012, I began graduate studies in Theatre at the University of Arizona. While writing my thesis, Hip Hop Happen to Me: A Study of Hip-Hop Theatre, I discovered Tucson’s vibrant Hip Hop culture and was immediately drawn to freestyle dance competitions in Tucson, Phoenix, Los Angeles, New York, and Las Vegas. Upon completing my M.A. in 2014, I ventured back into teaching, first working in Tucson schools and then in local day programs for people with disabilities. This ignited my passion for working with “people of ALL abilities.”  I have been a teacher, direct care worker, and program manager for schools and nonprofits that serve Tucson’s “All-abled” community.

In the summer of 2023, I started my own LLC: Creative Expression Fine Arts. Its mission: to provide Tucson’s “all-abled” community exposure to theatre, dance, and fine arts. I regularly teach at two schools for children with autism, six Tucson and three Phoenix programs for adults with disabilities, one memory care unit, and several private classes for people of various abilities.

In 2024, I received the Arts Foundation of Tucson and Southern Arizona’s stART Grant, which funded a camp for all-abled students. I was also awarded Arizona Commission of the Art’s Artist Opportunity Grant in 2024, which funded classes for different day programs. In under 3 years, my company has served over 1,000 all-abled adults and children through adaptive performing arts programming. My programs honor inclusivity and connection for all those who wish to participate.
